SAN FRANCISCO, CA, imoji, the fun and simple app that enables users to take any picture and turn it into a shareable emoji/sticker, today announced it has secured a $2 million venture investment.
imoji, the fun and simple app that enables users to take any picture and turn it into a shareable emoji/sticker, today announced it has secured a $2 million venture investment. The financing was led by Goodwater Capital and Joe Lacob.

Since launching on July 24th, imoji users have created over 1.5 million imojis, and millions have been shared in conversations over iMessage and various social networks.

Along with the financing, imoji has released a significant update to the app allowing users to share imojis beyond iMessage. The new platforms include WhatsApp, KakaoTalk, Facebook Messenger, Twitter and Instagram. Also included in the update is the ability to share an entire card or collection of imojis with a single unique URL. Cards will show up in the app when downloaded.

'We were blown away by the creativity of our users in such a short amount of time and took a lot of feedback to heart. As a result, we now are supporting more platforms and have some really exciting updates, including an Android app, in the works,' said Jason Stein, one of imoji's co-founders.

As part of the venture financing, Goodwater's Eric Kim, formerly a Managing Director at Maverick Capital, and Joe Lacob, Partner Emeritus at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, will be joining the imoji Board of Directors.

'imoji sits at the intersection of three major trends- selfies, messaging, and stickers. It has the potential to build a broad new visual lexicon in mobile communication that deeply engages users. Chi-Hua and I are excited to partner with the imoji team on this journey,' said Eric Kim, Managing Partner at Goodwater Capital.
