Nugg Closes Seed Round

2014-06-24
VANCOUVER, CANADA, Nugg Solutions has closed a $350K seed round led by Vancouver and Silicon Valley angel investors.
Nugg Solutions closed a $350K seed round led by Vancouver and Silicon Valley angel investors in December, 2013. That investment fueled a successful private beta of its team performance platform. The private beta included hundreds of users across dozens of companies. Now, with its app in the Apple App Store, Nugg is ready to launch into open, public beta.

Using Nugg teams perform better and are more likely to achieve their goals. Nugg's web and mobile software provides teams with a simple way to organize themselves around focused discussion of critical questions and decisions, and to connect these with goals. Teams can create their own questions, or use one of several templates to ask and answer the questions that focus them on the key issues that determine performance.

'Nugg fills the gap between task-centric project management tools like Asana and Basecamp and team communications applications like Slack. What really determines team performance is not checking off tasks or even more communication,' says Steven Forth, CEO and Co-founder of Nugg, 'Teams have lots of options for managing projects, tasks, collaboration, and chatting, but they don't have a tool to help them focus on results. Nugg is part of an emerging trend towards focusing on the people, not the task, helping people connect what they are doing to the bigger picture.'

Nugg is creating a platform that supports, and leverages, other project management tools. Nugg is building the layer that will help teams understand not just if tasks are getting checked off, but how teams themselves are performing. Using research by Alex Pentland of MIT's Media Lab, Nugg is building in measures of team energy, engagement, and exploration to help teams see how and why they are performing well.

'Nugg has placed itself in a vital position for today's teams,' John Seminario, Executive in Residence VentureLabs. 'Teams are more complex than ever and with more teams comprised of people across organizational boundaries, tools like Nugg that break down organizational barriers are essential to overall success.'

Nugg is available now through http://betterteams.nugg.co/pr or the Apple App Store. Users can try Nugg for free during the open beta period. Nugg is in the midst of raising a second $600K financing round to fund continued development and prepare for commercial launch.
