Venture Capital News: Kenna Closes $15M Series B

2016-12-07
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Vulnerability and risk intelligence platform that enables organizations to measure and monitor their exposure to risk, has closed a $15 million Series B funding round.
Kenna, a vulnerability and risk intelligence platform that enables organizations to measure and monitor their exposure to risk, today announced it has closed a $15 million Series B funding round led by PeakSpan Capital. New investor OurCrowd and previous investors U.S. Venture Partners (USVP), Costanoa Venture Capital, and Hyde Park Angels also participated in the round, bringing the company's total funding to $25 million. The capital will be used to power Kenna's engineering roadmap as well as scale sales, marketing, and customer success to meet increasing market demand.
'The security landscape is jammed with startups competing for attention, but it's rare to see a company such as Kenna transforming the security analytics space, providing value from the C-suite all the way to security and IT Ops, while rapidly acquiring enterprise customers,' said Brian Mulvey, co-founder and managing partner, PeakSpan Capital. 'Kenna's ability to see a customer's attack surface and enable a risk-based approach drives a compelling new way for SecOps to confidently increase efficacy and IT Ops to focus on addressing the issues that matter most, saving time and money.'
Today's funding comes after two consecutive years of more than 300 percent growth in enterprise bookings, with over a dozen new Fortune 500 customers. Kenna also strengthened its executive board with the strategic addition of Rick Schultz as vice president of sales in 2016, who brings over 30 years of leadership experience in enterprise sales.
Now a best practice in major enterprise organizations, Kenna correlates billions of vulnerability data points with real-time exploit intelligence data, quickly identifying an organization's specific vulnerabilities and security threats. As a result, companies save much-needed time, CISOs gain the ability to see their exposure to risk with easy-to-read reports that they can carry straight into the boardroom, and IT Operations can finally trust that the issues that they're being asked to address will make a fundamental difference to their organization's security.
'We are humbled that our customers have enabled us to have a breakout year in 2016,' said Karim Toubba, CEO, Kenna Security. 'Today our platform processes over 10 billion vulnerabilities daily, allowing hundreds of customers to see their risk in real time, and more importantly remediate with confidence, increasing productivity across their organizations. This investment will allow us to capitalize on an obvious hunger in the market. We are proud to be leading the charge on how enterprises view and manage security efficacy with substance.'
