Venture Capital News: Opkit Emerges With Over $1M

2023-03-07
NEW YORK, NY, Opkit emerges from stealth today with over $1 million in funding.
Today Opkit launches with an automated health insurance verification platform that is purpose-built for the new telehealth companies and virtual medical clinics that are providing care for a wide range of patients across the United States. The startup, which participated in Y Combinator, is emerging from stealth with initial funding of more than $1 million from Global Founders Capital, Mischief (Plaid founder Zach Perret's fund), Socially Financed, Y Combinator and Rex Salisbury, former partner at Andreessen Horowitz.

Opkit is a Y Combinator startup founded by early engineers from Brex. With initial funding from top VCs, the company is tackling the massive problem of insurance verification, focusing on telehealth companies and virtual medical practices who experience this problem more acutely than brick-and-mortar healthcare providers. With a streamlined interface, automation, and modern APIs, Opkit allows telehealth companies to quickly verify patients' insurance and fetch relevant benefits, including copays and deductibles.
