2014-12-16
NEW YORK, NY, Developer of the breakout mobile gaming hits has finalized its first round of capital investment.
Playdots Inc. ('Dots'), developer of the breakout mobile gaming hits, Dots: A Game About Connecting and TwoDots, announced today that it has finalized its first round of capital investment to accelerate the advancement of its franchise.

In a Series A funding round co-led by Tencent and Greycroft Partners, Dots raised $10M from a range of venture capitalists around the world, including Northzone and CrunchFund. They are joined by an Alphaworks syndicate that includes Slow Ventures, Li Ruigang, Susan Lyne, and a diverse assembly of other notable investors and game industry executives.

'It's been immensely gratifying to watch millions of people across the globe engage with our games,' said Dots co-founder and CEO Paul Murphy. 'This investment from an incredible set of partners will help Dots become one of the leading mobile-first games studios.'

In the past year and a half, Dots has grown from a modest art-inspired puzzle game built by co-founder and CCO, Patrick Moberg, to a growing NYC-based games studio with the ambition to stand alongside the gaming titans of the world. The Dots and TwoDots games have an install base of over 45 million players around the world.

Dots will release further information about its upcoming plans and projects in 2015. Dots and TwoDots are available as free downloads for the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.
