Venture Capital News: MyNewFinancialAdvisor Inks $1.1M Series A

2013-05-01
SANTA BARBARA, CA, Company helping financial advisory firms grow their client base via online connections, announced today that it had its initial closing of $1.1M in a Series A round.
MyNewFinancialAdvisor.com (MNFA), the leading company helping financial advisory firms grow their client base via online connections, announced today that it had its initial closing of $1.1M in a Series A round of financing from a group of investors led by Siemer Ventures. Additional rounds of financing are imminent.

"Consumer response to our FreeRetirementReport.com offering, which MNFA then helps connect with good advisors, has been extremely strong. There is undeniably a clear mass market of people with unmet needs wanting to get help with the planning and management their retirement assets," said David Cantrell, CEO. "The size of this market is enormous as Baby Boomers have only begun to retire."

FreeRetirementReport.com is the consumer facing site operated by MNFA that provides consumers with the opportunity to get a free "wealth checkup" by receiving a retirement report and consultation with an advisor on their platform, with absolutely no charge or obligation.

"MNFA has consistently shown that it can play a key role in helping financial firms nationwide efficiently generate new business," said Eric Manlunas Managing Partner of Los Angeles based Siemer Ventures. "The demographic picture alone - 77 million Baby Boomers and 1.6 million financial advisors nationwide - clearly demonstrates the need for this type of service for both groups." Manlunas also joins MNFA's Board of Directors.

A recent survey by the Deloitte Center for Financial Services found that two-thirds of respondents were planning for their retirement without the help of a financial advisor. In a separate survey of MNFA's consumers as of the end of Q1, 75% of respondents were over 55, and 55% of those reported not having an advisor. In both instances, those who did use an advisor were more likely to have a formal plan and felt much more secure about their retirement.

"It is clear to us that consumers want to retain control, yet will benefit greatly from the right type of financial advisor. Our goal is to connect consumers with the right advisor," said Cantrell.

MNFA will use this investment to continue to optimize, expand, and scale its core business operations, including the recently introduced "eReferral" platform.
